The first step to your wellness journey starts with you. Working on yourself can be difficult. I provide therapy services to clients 18+ to help you become your best self. Entering therapy, at any point in your life, isn’t easy. For that reason, I enter into each session with no judgments, significant compassion, empowerment, connectedness and a willing to learn and listen. I believe that you have all of the strength to overcome your struggles, to reach your goals, to find acceptance, to increase personal insight and to move toward positive change. I mainly work with clients who have anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD; mainly checking, counting, ordering, mental rituals, cleaning, perfectionism), body-focused repetitive behaviours (BFRP), trauma, life transitions, relational issues, sleeping issues, grief and intergenerational trauma.
You deserve your own unique flexibility when it comes to your treatment, this way, you will feel like your therapy has been tailored to your specifically. I work from a collaborative, strengths-based, client-centred and biopsychosocial evidenced-based frameworks. Some of the modalities I work from, but are not limited to, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Pyschodynamic, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and exposure therapy.
I am extremely passionate about working with others. I found my love of helping others at a very young age. I have also been volunteering within the community to give back for most of my life. I have served within the Vietnamese community of Ottawa, with children and adolescents, and 5+ years at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre with the geriatric population. My commitment and experience with volunteering and within the areas of health care has transferred into my career as a psychotherapist.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (BA) from the University of Ottawa and my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) from Yorkville University. I am a Registered Psychotherapist through the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), in good standing, and a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPCA).
